Project 2 - VILLA MAIREA - three strategic aspects of the architecture-
• nap the relationship of public to more private spaces in the house and the way in which these zones are distiguished or architecturally articulated.
• Spatialy and dimensionally study the circulation of the house and the way in which it can suggest an implied narrative or plot connecting a series of uses.
• Examine the architectural attitude towards material in the house; the material choices employed and
the relationships between different materials. Search for connections between this attitude and the
architectural patterns of domestic occupation.

Project1-villa muller analysis
pic1:villa muller
Building: Villa MullerArchitect: Adolf Loos
Location: Prague-Střešovice, Czech Republic
Architect's concept of design:
“My architecture is not conceived in plans, but in spaces (cubes). I do not design floor plans, facades, sections. I design spaces. For me, there is no ground floor, first floor etc.... For me, there are only contiguous, continual spaces, rooms, anterooms, terraces etc. Storeys merge and spaces relate to each other. Every space requires a different height: the dining room is surely higher than the pantry, thus the ceilings are set at different levels, one can save space through connecting a higher main room to a lower annexe” ①
From my perspectives, the Villa Muller is very simple from outside looks, but the unfancied windows are no in a logical way. The villa is like a enclosed shell-public and private sphere is involve all side of the villa and there is no restriction to the facade. Thus the enclosed space has mystery to viewers. There are 6 floors which count from straggered levels
pic2: villa's levels and circulation
The most significant feature is the private single family house, there isclear separation between daytime and night time, functions include the dialectics of psychological needs and clients' requirement. It's worth to mentioning that the high of the villa is only enough to divide into three floors, but there are 6 floors inside of the house.
